President Donald Trump uses Twitter to break news, feud with critics and even conduct diplomacy. It can be hard to keep up with the prolific 45th president — so we're keeping track of @realDonaldTrump's latest noteworthy tweets.

They include his call for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to end the "Rigged Witch Hunt," a prediction about the demise of the news media, his statement that "Collusion is not a crime," his denial about a June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower and an all-caps warning to the Iranian president.

A.G. Sulzberger said in a statement that he took the meeting primarily "to raise concerns about the president's deeply troubling anti-press rhetoric," and told Trump "that his language was not just divisive but increasingly dangerous."

The New York Times publisher said he told Trump that while his "fake news" phrase "is untrue and harmful, I am far more concerned about his labeling journalists 'the enemy of the people.' I warned that this inflammatory language is contributing to a rise in threats against journalists and will lead to violence," Sulzberger said in his response to Trump's tweet later on July 29, 2018.

Trump on consequences of crossing the border illegally

President Trump's warning of consequences came three days after the government said July 26, 2018, that it had reunited more than 1,800 children separated at the U.S.-Mexico border with parents and sponsors. That includes 1,442 children ages 5 and older reunified with parents in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody, and 378 released "in other appropriate circumstances," including to other sponsors, the Justice Department said in a court filing. But 711 children remain separated, the filing said.

Could Trump's tweets put him in legal jeopardy?

Above on Friday, July 27, 2018, the president denied knowing in advance about the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower that his son Donald Trump Jr., campaign chairman Paul Manafort and Jared Kushner attended with a Russian lawyer. Trump's campaign had been told the lawyer had dirt on Hillary Clinton to share.

Important backdrop: CNN reported Thursday that Trump's former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, claims that Trump knew in advance about the meeting -- and that he was willing to share that information with special counsel Robert Mueller. Also Thursday: The New York Times reported that Mueller is scrutinizing Trump tweets and negative statements from him about Attorney General Jeff Sessions and former FBI Director James Comey. He is investigating the tweets and other presidential actions as a possible obstruction case, the Times reported.

Trump finds it 'inconceivable that a lawyer would tape a client'

Trump responded here to the disclosure of a secret recording made by his then-personal attorney, Michael Cohen, of their conversation before the presidential election about a potential payment for ex-Playboy model Karen McDougal's account of having an affair with Trump. "The transaction that Michael is talking about on the tape never took place," Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani said.

The recording was first reported by The New York Times the day before Trump's tweet on July 20, 2018. Trump's first sentence refers to the FBI's raids of Cohen's office, home and hotel room in April.

These tweets came four days after he signed an executive order halting the separation of children from parents when they are detained illegally crossing the border, following an uproar.

Trump tweeted these messages the morning after a much-anticipated report by the Justice Department watchdog landed on June 14, 2018. Inspector General Michael Horowitz's report sharply criticized former FBI Director James Comey for making "insubordinate" and "ad hoc" decisions in the Hillary Clinton email investigation, but it "found no evidence that the conclusions by department prosecutors were affected by bias or other improper considerations."

FBI agent Peter Strzok had a leading role in the Clinton probe and helped steer the Russia investigation, but was removed from it in the summer of 2017 after his texts with FBI attorney Lisa Page were discovered. Strzok later told Congress that his "we'll stop" text was written in response to a series of events that included Trump insulting the Gold Star Khan family, and his presumption "based on that horrible, disgusting behavior" that Americans would not elect someone demonstrating that behavior as president. Speaking later on June 15, Trump declared that the report showed that the FBI "plotted against my election." He also claimed that it cleared him in special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe, though Horowitz did not address that.

After ABC canceled its hit show "Roseanne" for a racist tweet by star Roseanne Barr, President Trump used his Twitter platform not to comment on what she said, but to seek an apology to himself from Bob Iger, the CEO of ABC's parent company Disney. Trump: Mueller probe 'will be MEDDLING with the mid-term elections'

The "horrible law" Trump falsely referred to on May 26, 2018, is in fact a tactic increasingly being used by his own administration, after it recently announced a "zero-tolerance policy" in which it will press criminal charges against all people crossing the border illegally. As a result, more children are expected to be separated from their parents. Six hundred and fifty-eight children were separated from their parents at the border May 6-19 as the parents face charges, a Customs and Border Protection official said.

And on the next day, North Korea summit again a possibility

President Trump canceled his June 12 summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in this letter on May 24, 2018. The letter explaining his reasons was released well before this tweet was posted, at 12:18 p.m.

'Look how things have turned around on the Criminal Deep State'

The president stepped up his attacks on investigators looking into ties between his campaign and Russia on May 23, 2018, as he continued to push his allegation that the FBI placed a spy in his campaign. The allegation stems from reports that the FBI used an outside informant, a Cambridge University professor, to meet with Trump campaign aides as part of the bureau's then-nascent probe on Russian election interference. In another tweet a short time later, Trump wrote, "SPYGATE could be one of the biggest political scandals in history!"

Former FBI Director James Comey responded to Trump's claims with a tweet of his own. "Facts matter. The FBI's use of Confidential Human Sources (the actual term) is tightly regulated and essential to protecting the country. Attacks on the FBI and lying about its work will do lasting damage to our country," Comey wrote. "How will Republicans explain this to their grandchildren?"

'I hereby demand, and will do so officially tomorrow ...'

This tweet landed like a bombshell on May 20, 2018, as President Trump -- who previously threatened to get involved in the Justice Department, which normally operates independently of the president -- pressured the DOJ at a new level. The post culminated a tweetstorm in which Trump railed against special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. Trump's actions are being scrutinized in the probe -- and with this tweet he demanded an investigation of the investigators. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who oversees Mueller, responded Sunday with a deflecting maneuver.

Here President Trump went to bat for Chinese jobs and a telecom company, ZTE, that was previously sanctioned by the Commerce Department for selling equipment to North Korea and Iran. The department also banned the shipment of American technology to ZTE for seven years and barred it from selling its products in the U.S. for the same amount of time.

Trump announces Pompeo en route with 3 freed Americans

This tweet was one of a series the president posted about the return of three Americans freed by North Korea. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo secured the prisoners' release in Pyongyang after meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un about the Trump-Kim summit, and Trump and others welcomed them home with a still-of-the-night arrival ceremony at Joint Base Andrews. Trump thanked Kim for releasing the three men, and said he believes Kim wants to reach an agreement on denuclearization.

'The Iran Deal is defective at its core'

On May 8, 2018, President Trump announced one of his weightiest foreign policy decisions to date, announcing the United States' withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. "The United States no longer makes empty threats. When I make promises, I keep them," Trump says in this highlights video posted on Twitter. It contains music that you may find dissonant, or a call to arms.

Trump acknowledges reimbursing Cohen $130,000 for Daniels payment

Here the president changed course on May 3, 2018, after denying any knowledge of a $130,000 payment by his lawyer Michael Cohen to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016. Trump acknowledged reimbursing the $130,000 to Cohen, revealing that he had paid him "a monthly retainer," and saying that the nondisclosure agreement with Daniels (a.k.a. Stephanie Clifford) "was used to stop the false and extortionist accusations made by her about an affair." The tweets came the morning after Trump's new personal attorney, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, disclosed in a Fox News interview Wednesday that Trump had reimbursed Cohen with money "funneled through a law firm."

Trump threatens 'to use the powers granted to the Presidency and get involved!'

The backdrop to this tweet on May 2, 2018: a dispute between the Justice Department and pro-Trump House members demanding documents related to Mueller's probe. Trump's message echoes his unfounded claims that the presidential election was rigged against him -- and foreshadows his "I hereby demand" tweet of May 20.

These tweets followed a memorable and possibly breakthrough moment between the leaders of the two Koreas on April 27, 2018, as they shook hands across the border, and then, their hands still clasped, North Korean ruler Kim Jong Un stepped into the South. He became the first North Korean leader to set foot in the South since the Korean War was an active conflict. (It stopped with an armistice in 1953, with the rival nations technically remaining at war.) Hands still held, Kim and Moon stepped into the North, then returned to the South for their summit.

The countries agreed to jointly push for talks in 2018 with the United States and potentially China to officially end the war.

In a later tweet, Trump highlighted "the great help that my good friend, President Xi of China, has given to the United States, particularly at the Border of North Korea."

'Thank you Kanye, very cool!'

In which Mr. West and Mr. Trump show each other Twitter love. In a tweet two days later, the president wrote, "Kanye West has performed a great service to the Black Community - Big things are happening and eyes are being opened for the first time in Decades - Legacy Stuff!"

'Heading to the Southern White House to watch the Funeral Service of Barbara Bush'

The president chose not to attend the former first lady's funeral in Houston, sending his wife in his stead. Trump did not attend "to avoid disruptions due to added security, and out of respect for the Bush Family and friends attending the service," the White House said. In another tweet, Trump said his "thoughts and prayers are with the entire Bush family."

Trump: NYT seeking 'to destroy Michael Cohen' and our relationship, hoping he will 'flip'

With Michael Cohen under scrutiny by federal prosecutors, Trump raised the possibility that his longtime personal lawyer would "flip" in this series of tweets on April 21, 2018. The president made the case that "Most people will flip if the Government lets them out of trouble," even if that means lying.

'The Special Council was established based on an illegal act?'

This late Friday-night tweet from Mar-a-Lago, which came a day after the release of former FBI Director James Comey's memos about his interactions with the president, appeared aimed at undermining special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe. Comey has testified that he asked a friend to share the content of a memo with a reporter, hoping that would prompt the appointment of a special counsel. (The friend read parts of the memo to a New York Times reporter, according to the paper.) Comey's memos were unclassified, with some portions blacked out as classified.

'North Korea has agreed to suspend all Nuclear Tests and close up a major test site'

This tweet heralded "very good news for North Korea and the World," as North Korea announced the suspension of nuclear tests and intercontinental ballistic missile launches, before summits with South Korea and the United States. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who said in 2017 that his country had completed its nuclear forces, said it has reached the level where it no longer needs underground testing or to test launch ICBMs. He also said it would close the nuclear testing facility at Punggye-ri. Notably, it was already believed to have been rendered unusable because of tunnel collapses after North Korea tested its most powerful bomb yet last year.

'Mike Pompeo met with Kim Jong Un in North Korea last week'

Trump confirmed the top-secret meeting between the CIA director and North Korean leader in this tweet on April 18, 2018, but his time reference is off. Mike Pompeo visited North Korea over Easter weekend, The Washington Post reported -- so a few weeks before Trump's tweet.

Comey 'was not fired because of the phony Russia investigation'

This tweet on April 18, 2018, contradicts what Trump told NBC News last May, when he said that "this Russia thing" (which he deemed "a made-up story") was on his mind when he decided to fire James Comey.

Trump says Comey should go to jail

Trump tweeted five broadsides against his nemesis Comey on April 15, 2018, including these where he says the former FBI director should go to jail, and claims that Comey "wanted a job" from Hillary Clinton. Comey was serving a 10-year term as the bureau's director at the time.

In a tweet not shown here, he wrote, "I never asked Comey for Personal Loyalty. I hardly even knew this guy. Just another of his many lies. His "memos" are self serving and FAKE!" Comey says that Trump asked him for his personal loyalty in a one-on-one dinner at the White House soon after the president took office.

In the final post, Trump tried out a new moniker -- "Slippery James Comey" -- saying he "will go down as the WORST FBI Director in history, by far!" Comey's first interview since his firing aired on ABC that night, in which he called Trump "morally unfit to be president."

'Could not have had a better result. Mission Accomplished!'

Trump's declaration of "Mission Accomplished!" in U.S.-led airstrikes on Syria with this tweet on April 14, 2018, recalled the last Republican president, George W. Bush. He famously stood in front of a "Mission Accomplished" banner on an aircraft carrier in May 2003 as he declared the end of major combat operations in Iraq. That turned out to be very premature, as the war continued for many years, with the banner becoming a symbol of U.S. misjudgments and mistakes in the conflict. For his part, Bush disavowed any connection with the "Mission Accomplished" message in October 2003.

President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey on May 9, 2017. The first news reports on the contents of Comey's memoir "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership" -- which has scathing characterizations of Trump -- came out on April 12, 2018. Like clockwork, the president fired back on Twitter the next morning.

Trump on 'historically cooperative, disciplined approach' to Mueller

Trump indicated that he would stay the course with the Mueller investigation with this tweet on April 12, 2018 -- a much calmer approach than he took earlier in the week.

Trump gives a heads-up on missiles to Syria: 'Get ready Russia'

The 45th president covered an incredible amount of ground in these Russia-focused tweets over the span of a few hours on the morning of April 11, 2018. The main headline was his quote to "Get ready Russia" for missiles headed to Syria. But his statement that the United States' relationship with Russia is worse than ever, including during the Cold War, was perhaps more eye-catching. So too was his question: "Stop the arms race?"

Trump hedged on his Syria plans the very next day, tweeting, "Never said when an attack on Syria would take place. Could be very soon or not so soon at all!"

Trump tweeted these messages on April 10, 2018, on the morning after federal investigators with the U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan raided the office, home and hotel room of his longtime personal lawyer, Michael Cohen. Cohen's own attorney said the move was partly based on a referral from special counsel Robert Mueller. Trump called Mueller's Russia investigation "an attack on our country in a true sense," responding on camera as he met with the nation's top military brass in the White House on April 9. He has called the Mueller probe of Russia's election meddling a witch hunt many times.

This declaration on April 8, 2018, was made amid an intense trade conflict between the two powers.

'Rent was about market rate, travel expenses OK'

Trump staunchly defended his EPA chief, Scott Pruitt, amid burgeoning scandals on April 7, 2018 -- including his high security costs, and an unusual arrangement in which he rented a Capitol Hill condominium tied to a fossil fuels lobbyist for $50 a night. The president's backing came with a White House review of Pruitt's ethical conduct underway.

Trump posted this tweet about a fire at his eponymous New York City tower on April 7, 2018, shortly after it was initially reported as under control -- and before the news that a resident died in the blaze.

This April 3, 2018, tweet is notable for the casual way the 45th president denigrates the 44th as "Cheatin' Obama."

'A whole big wasted procedure must take place'

'NO MORE DACA DEAL!'

Trump began Easter Sunday morning on Twitter in a positive way. That changed an hour and a half later, as he seemingly closed the door on a deal for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. A deal wasn't close. His statement, "These big flows of people are all trying to take advantage of DACA," in reference to the caravan of migrants making their way through Mexico toward the United States, is chronologically impossible, as DACA recipients must have lived continuously in the U.S. since 2007 to be eligible for the program and protected from deportation.

'I am thankful for Dr. David Shulkin's service ...'

And with that, Trump fired another member of his Cabinet, Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin. His choice to replace him: White House doctor and Navy Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson, who has served as the physician to the president since 2013. Chief of Staff John Kelly informed Shulkin of his dismissal before Trump made the announcement, a White House official said.

In a fact-check/civics lesson, The Associated Press was compelled to point out that "the Supreme Court, while shaped by political changes, is the unelected branch of government that can't be held by any party."

And with that, Trump made another change to his team of key advisers, naming former UN Ambassador and noted war hawk John Bolton as his third national security adviser on March 22, 2018.

Trump responded forcefully two days after former Vice President Joe Biden told a crowd in Miami, "If we were in high school, I'd take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him" for disrespecting women. The Democrat cited Trump's infamous "Access Hollywood" tape comments from 2005 as he made his remark at a University of Miami rally against sexual assault on March 20, 2018, with the Republican firing back on the morning of March 22.

Special counsel Robert Mueller is a Republican. This tweet and another earlier that weekend were the first times Trump directly named Mueller on Twitter, leading some Republican lawmakers to pre-emptively call for the special counsel to remain in place.

The president commented a few hours after Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired the former deputy director of the FBI, Andrew McCabe, two days before his retirement date. Sessions did so on the recommendation of FBI disciplinary officials and before an inspector general's report on McCabe -- who fired back that the move "is part of this administration's ongoing war on the FBI and the efforts of the special counsel investigation, which continue to this day."

But this time Sessions pushed back, saying his department had taken the appropriate step, and insisting he would "continue to discharge my duties with integrity and honor." Side note: Contrary to Trump's framing, lawyers from the inspector general's office are part of the Department of Justice and can and often do refer matters for prosecution.

Trump referred to a book excerpt by Donna Brazile, the Democratic National Committee's former interim leader, that stated that Hillary Clinton's joint fundraising agreement with the DNC effectively gave her control of it. Her main challenger, Sen. Bernie Sanders, signed his own agreement with the party months later. Brazile alleged she found proof that the primary was rigged for Clinton, but she walked back that claim on ABC's "This Week" on Nov. 5.

Trump's calls to fire protesting players sparked a mass increase in demonstrations around the NFL on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, as more than 200 players knelt or sat during the national anthem. Other players, coaches and owners locked arms in a show of solidarity. The president responded with this afternoon tweet giving his approval of standing with locked arms while saying that "kneeling is not acceptable." This two-part message on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, followed up on Trump's comments at a rally in Alabama the night before, when he said that NFL owners should fire players who kneel during the national anthem. "Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, you'd say, 'Get that son of a [expletive] off the field right now. Out! He's fired," Trump said, to loud applause, as he campaigned for Alabama Sen. Luther Strange.

This Trump tweet after a London subway bombing on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, was quickly rebuked by British Prime Minister Theresa May, who said, "I never think it's helpful for anybody to speculate on what is an ongoing investigation." Trump said he had been briefed on the explosion. The Associated Press later reported that the homemade bomb partially detonated, injuring 30 people. Trump also tweeted that day that his travel ban "should be far larger, tougher and more specific," and in another message said that "Our hearts & prayers go out to the people of London."
